To all LW residents,
I hope that you have taken the time and interest to read the
Golden Rain / PCM draft titled STAFF SUPPORT EXPENSES POLICIES & PROCEDURES.
Having followed the credit card / paid expenses issues in this paper for
the past few months, I was delighted to see an effort put forth by GR/PCM
to address the concerns of all residents of our community. Unfortunately,
as I carefully read through the document, it became quite apparant that
the draft is still far from anything any responsible corporation would
allow. There are a number of very "left to interpretation" specific
items re what is proper to be considered re-imbursables.
I have worked in the corporate environment for 40 years and have never
been allowed to incur expenses that were not assigned a "cap",
anything above which I would be personally responsible for.
The draft section re Offsite Employee Relations & Business Meals states
that " the meal may not be considered "lavish".It then
states that no definition of "lavish" is possible, etc., "if
it is judged above the standard of living of the recipients",etc.THIS
IS OUTRAGEOUS! Why can't they determine, as my company does, that breakfast
allowance is say $10, Lunch $ 20 and Dinner $40. Surely that is very fair
for most "non-lavish" establishments.
The draft section re Travel Expenses states that expenses will be paid
"if necessary to view a vendors product or facility." In all
my years of working with outside vendors wanting to do business with the
companies I worked for, it was the vendors who paid for us to view the
products and/or facilities. After all, they want to get our business,
therefore THEY SHOULD PAY US to see their facility.
Lastly, re Accomodations, the draft states that the hotel should be "the
least expensive one,"etc. but again, there is no "cap"
on the per diem rate.
It is up to all of the residents of Laguna Woods who love to complain,
to complain to their board members and to Golden Rain /PCM, not just to
their friends if they want real change and accountability to happen.
